Vevo Meets: Sundara Karma

Sundara Karma make a beautiful noise. Singer/guitarist Oscar Pollock, lead guitarist Ally Baty, bassist Dom Cordell and drummer Haydn Evans were 14-year-old schoolmates when they formed in 2011 in Reading, England, inspired by the likes of Green Day and My Chemical Romance. Two years later, their first release, “Freshbloom,” got exposure on the BBC and an endorsement from Zane Lowe. The NME hailed them as “anthemic and ambitious.” They’ve become a ferocious live act whose roar often has a radiance to it (“sundara” is the Sanskrit word for “beautiful”). They’ve toured with Wolf Alice, Two Door Cinema Club, and they’ve delivered a sensational debut album, ‘Youth Is Only Ever Fun In Retrospect,’ which matches thoughtful lyrics with irresistible melodies on “Flame,” Happy Family,” and “She Said.” See what they say about Stevie Wonder, ‘School of Rock’ and starting to make music at the age of 17 in our ‘Vevo Meets’ session.
